Position Summary
The Failure Analysis Manager leads the Failure Analysis team, collaborating with Field Technicians, Area Managers, and Operations Leadership to ensure Kodiak’s 98% mechanical availability guarantee across all units. This role involves managing failure analysis efforts, driving process improvements, and ensuring high standards in mechanical reliability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor the Failure Analysis team, ensuring performance objectives are met.
Oversee and analyze unit metrics to identify failure trends and areas for improvement.
Ensure consistent monitoring of failure metrics and adjust strategies as needed.
Develop and implement strategies with Engineering, Operations, and Technology teams to reduce downtime and enhance mechanical availability.
Manage the documentation and reporting of failure data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
Conduct root cause analysis for major failures and implement corrective actions.
Present detailed failure reports and process improvement plans to senior leadership.
Direct and manage vibration analyst, review vibration reports, establish methods for follow-up with operations on effectiveness of correct measures.
Collaborate with Engineering on any design changes resulting from Vibration analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate failure analysis findings into broader business strategies.
Work with Technology team to integrate finding from failure analysis with telemetry data to drive improvements in runtime and prevent repeat failures.
Monitor financial impacts of failures and develop cost-reduction strategies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to address product failures and implement improvements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in failure analysis and reporting processes.
Education & Certifications
- Highschool diploma or GED required.
Work Experience
7+ years of experience in an oilfield service organization, with a focus on failure analysis and mechanical reliability.
Prior leadership experience preferred.
Skill & Abilities
Expertise in oil analysis and Ariel sizing programs.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Strong analytical abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
Advanced Excel skills and experience in reporting and process improvement.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical Demands:
Ability to travel as required and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work extended or non-traditional working hours when required.
Required to sit for long periods of time as needed.
Intermittent lifting of > 50lbs from the ground.
Must be able to stand or walk on uneven terrain, climb personnel stairs and ladders, stoop, squat and/or crawl depending on the directed task.
Exposure to extreme temperatures, weather conditions and environments on a location-by-location basis.
High noise environment (>85 dbA) will occur with ear protection.
Potential controlled, exposure to hazardous chemicals.
