Position Summary
To estimate, plan, organize, direct and supervise station EPC projects within the Special Projects group. Manage the estimating, planning, execution, supervision and coordination of technical aspects of field engineering assignments including development and maintenance of schedules, contracts, budgets, means and methods. Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to assigned duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Estimate, plan, organize, and coordinate construction projects within the Special Projects group to include the construction of turnkey stations and existing station expansions.
Coordinate with VP of Construction and Construction Managers as necessary throughout the planning, execution and closeout phases of the projects.
Generate and publish weekly/monthly progress reports to VP of Project Management.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across multiple regions and in various state of execution.
Ensure on-schedule completion within budget in accordance with contract documents and City, State and Federal requirements.
Ensure coordination between Engineering and Construction leads to ensure all budgetary and contractual obligations are met.
Conduct meetings with owners, architects/engineers, consultants, construction managers, contractors, subcontractors, state & local officials to provide direction & policy interpretation for assigned projects.
Apply judgment on construction related problems and troubleshoots to expedite execution, completion and closeout of projects.
Monitor progress of work by contractors for the purposes of reviewing and approving monthly progress payment applications or invoices; prepare documents for recommendation and authorization for payment.
Administer construction contracts, including negotiating with contractors and issuing change orders; reviewing work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, schedules and budgets. Review and respond to submittals, RFIs, and other project correspondence.
Provide direct oversight of vendors/fabricators including bidding, contract execution and expediting. Responsibilities will include regular meetings at Vendor facilities
Prepare and administer non-compliance notices for completed work not conforming to contract requirements
Read and interpret engineering plans and specifications; understand and enforce compliance with plans, specifications, bid documents, and contract provisions.
Field responsibilities include performing site visits, monitoring labor compliance, quality assurance inspection of the contractor’s work to confirm compliance with contract requirements, project close-out punch list inspections.
Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff involved in construction inspection. Perform project management duties for projects during planning and design phases as necessary.
Ensure that assigned personnel engage in safe work practices in compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards.
Generate Owner Payment Applications per the Contract and work with Kodiak Accounting Group for processing and tracking.
Track overall profitability on all assigned projects. Responsible for ensuring all Kodiak members associated with the project are informed on project progress.
Manage Owner Change Order process including estimating, submission, negotiation and execution of all agreed upon Change Orders.
Work with Kodiak legal team on all Vendor and Owner contract negotiations.
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate or assigned.
Education, Experience, & Training
Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience required.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other technical field from an accredited college or university or eight (8) years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Minimum five (5) years of experience with project management, construction management or project engineering
Minimum three (3) year experience with contract and/or construction scope writing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc), PDF programs (Adobe/Bluebeam), NavisWorks
Physical Demands
- Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 25 pounds of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 pounds of force rarely to move objects.
